Would love to win this for my son. It has been one of the great joys of my life to have introduced him to my favorite science fiction authors.
I first saw a copy of “Eye of The World” in the Denver, Lowry Technical Training Center, Air Force Base Exchange in hard back. I was there to completed my technical training for the Air Force. I was sending money home to my father and at the time an could not afford the hardback. It wasn’t until I completed training school and was on leave at home, prior to being ship overseas for a 2 year tour to the Philippines. While in Panama City, Florida, I went to my favorite used boot store call “Ageless Books” and it was here I found to copy of “The Eye Of World” at discount. I read this book on the plane flying to Philippines and finish it in by first barracks room that I was giving. I have waited for the NEW series to be release and have purchase every hardbacks since. On December 2009 I retired from the Air Force. Throughout my military careen Mr. Jordan’s book have took me to a familiar places in he’s pages. From Kuwait, United kingdom and though out the Air Force Base around the United States. I was real sadden from reading about health problem that to his death. I am really looking forward to getting read the New book but also sadden me of its end.
I must admit, WOT is the only fantasy I’ve ever loved. But I’m open to reading something new!

Like everyone else, I would just love, love, love to win that backpack! Several of those books sound good to me, especially Mistborn because I’ve not allowed myself to read any of Sanderson’s other work until I finish the Wheel of Time series.

Memory of Light-envelope me!
My first book was, oddly enough, Fires of Heaven. I was in the Navy, in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, and a copy in paperback was lying around, a bit worse for the wear and tear. Even starting in the middle, I was intrigued, and I searched that ship high and low for the first book.
I found #3 first, and secreted it away. 2 and 4 came next, but The Eye of the World was nowhere to be found. So I ordered it, mail order. It took forever, as you can imagine, Over a month later I was staring at a brand new copy (which promptly lost its cover a few days later, much to my dismay). I read it voraciously, then the rest. By the time I was through with Fires of Heaven again, it was several months later, and we were back home. I gave them all away and headed straight for a bookstore to find the next book.
I eventually bought them all – 6-current in hardcover, 1-5 in paperback. Last year, a good friend sent me book 5 in hardcover, signed by Robert Jordan himself, since I had never been to a signing while he was alive. Several of my hardcovers have seen better days, with cracked bindings and loose sections, but I’ve read them so many times. Probably read 1-8 over 5 times through before the ebooks came out. Then I got the Kindle app for my phone and bought them all again, reading them several more times.
I know there’ll be another series that will catch my eye, tug at my heart, the way TWoT does, eventually, but it’s hard to imagine now. Rest well, Mr. Jordan, and my thanks go with you.

I don’t remember for sure how I was introduced to the Wheel of Time. I believe I was quizzing people at work to try to find something new to read. I was captivated and couldn’t stop reading. Longtime fan of the WoT. Brandon has earned my respect, not only for his work on this series, but I have read many of his books and his world building, and creation of new magical systems is awesome. For those of you who have not read anything else by Brandon Sanderson, I urge you to do so. The Mistborn trilogy is fantastic. The Way of Kings is the beginning of seems to be Brandon’s big epic, and it is a great book as well. I can’t wait to see if perhaps I win one of these packpacks…that would be awesome. Anyone know if there is a way to BUY one if I don’t happen to win? I’d love to have one to commemorate the ending to a rather long stage in my life. Looking forward to reading through the ENTIRE SERIES all at once here in a few years…lol.

This looks great. All this brings back memories of grad school when I read the first 3 books in a few weeks! Working full time,but I couldn’t put the books down. I encouraged my son to read the books, it took a couple of years, but he got hooked, too, and has them all in print and audio, both!

I’m not sure if I’m more excited or sad to get the last book. I know that I’m really glad Robert Jordan made the decision to call Brandon Sanderson. Absolute brilliance from beginning to end.
I have all of the Wheel of time books in audio format, and have listened from the beginning each time a new book came out before listening to the latest one. I’M CHEATING THIS TIME! I started too late, and so I was on book six when I realized I couldn’t wait for the whole cycle before hearing Memory of Light. Therefore, I skipped to the last two books before MoL. Not sure if I wll get through them, but I’m going to try …
I finished the book friday thanks to a local friend….and I’m still in shock. A backpack with a lot of books could Heal me….

I’ve got over 20 years invested in reading this series…I can’t wait to read the ending…though it will be sad to see it end as well. I have 2 sons who are reading as well and I can’t wait to discuss it with them.
The choice of Sanderson for finishing the series is an excellent one – now, instead of facing the always uneasy feeling of nothing left to read from an author – we can all dive into the many worlds of Sanderson.
